The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the biggest current trends in the electronics industry. But many outside of the industry don’t yet understand what it’s all about! IoT is simply a web of connected “things” (your refrigerator, your coffee maker, your light system – the list goes on!). Hence the name: Internet of Things.
Cisco Systems estimates that approximately 12.1 billion Internet-connected devices were in use as of April 2014. That number is expected to triple in the next 10 years. This has significant impact on the burgeoning smart home industry because it allows devices to synchronize and bounce data off of each other. For example, the NuBryte will enable users to set home automation preferences that can synchronize lighting, heating, cooling, etc. accordingly. This adds tremendous user convenience, and makes for a more environmentally friendly and energy efficient home.
